Gov. Bob McDonnell and 10 other legislators came to ODU Friday, April 2, to sign into law a group of bills that centered around ways to make Virginia the nation’s leader in the clean energy industry.
The political debate surrounding the health care legislation went on for more than a year
and a half before the bill was finally passed Sunday, March 21. As politicians argued, people
remained uncovered and family budgets continued to tighten.
The recent actions of Gov. Bob McDonnell and Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli have shown that, while some sets of people in America have inalienable rights, others have rights that have been granted to them by a liberal government, and those rights can be taken away with the flick of a pen.
The mayor of Norfolk has jurisdiction ranging from property taxes to public safety, which affects all city residents, including ODU students. This
makes the May 4 mayoral race an important one.
