Lady Monarchs topple Tribe, win helps seal No. 1 seed in CAA

The College of William & Mary’s Tribe (11-16, 4-12 CAA) stepped into a lion’s den on Thursday, Feb. 25, 2010 as they fell to the Lady Monarchs 70-52. After a recent loss at home to James Madison University, the Lady Monarchs (15-11, 13-3 CAA) were hungry for a victory to give them better position in the upcoming Colonial Athletic Association Tournament.

Casually perusing the Webb Center, many students here at Old Dominion University seemed to be more solidified on their exam schedule than their plans starting March 6 for Spring Break.

In an atmosphere embodying the best rivalry in the CAA, the Monarchs celebrated a triumphant 73-70 victory over the despised Virginia Commonwealth University Rams. The Monarchs won on Senior Day in front of a ruckus crowd of 8,424 screaming fans inside the Ted. With the victory the Monarchs concluded a perfect season at home and pushed their home winning streak to 23 games.
